The Holland Rijnland Region

The Holland Rijnland Area is situated on the West Coast of Holland and includes Noordwijk, Leiden, Katwijk, Lisse, Noordwijkerhout, Warmond and twelve other smaller villages. With
its flowerfields, beach & dunes, beautiful small villages and the old historical city of Leiden,
it has everything you expected to come across in Holland and much more!

Katwijk and Noordwijk
In summer, Holland Rijnland is a popular beach destination. The seaside resorts Noordwijk and Katwijk offer miles of long sandy beaches, where everyone can find a spot!

Noordwijk is a modern seaside resort and offers a host of luxurious hotels and a big
variety of restaurants and bars; many of which are situated at the promenade directly
on the sea front. Surrounded by woods and wild dunes, Noordwijk is located in the heart
of the Dutch bulb-growing area and nearby Keukenhof. It is often described as the flower seaside resort of Europe! Immerse yourself in nostalgic atmosphere by wandering around
the old heart of Noordwijk (Noordwijk Binnen) and enjoy the stately buildings and houses,
old lime-trees and a shop specialising in spices.

Neighbouring Katwijk is situated directly on the seaside and boasts a promenade perfect
for a leisurely stroll. While you're there, make sure to pay a visit to Katwijk's beacon and
the Katwijk Museum, which gives you an impression of the importance of the village in
earlier times.

Leiden
Pay a visit to Leiden, with its rich cultural historical value, monumental façades and
canals. These days its atmosphere is largely determined by its university and boosts numerous student bars and restaurants. It's also the birthplace of Rembrandt and
the place where Clusius brought the first Dutch tulips into flower.
